Phenomenology is a wonderful way of understanding secrets beyond the obvious facets of life and beyond. However, often misinterpreted by mediocre designers who think of it as a mere design tool that is supremely poetic and sensitive. To these class of people, welcome to ‘Bad poets society’.

  3. Ira Says:

My first understanding about phenomenology is just a design philosophy that considering human psychology, consciousness. Well, merely making a design which has psychological impact. In other words maybe, still in the ‘bad poets society’ (lol) Still learning to understand it beyond what is obvious and dig into deeper layer.

  4. spatialdesign Says:

Phenomenology is first and formost a philosophy that has influenced many disciplines, for a detailed online discussion of the philosophy with NAFA 1st MA cohort, see http://transmaterialasia.wordpress.com/forum/
For a brief overview of architects whose design philosophy has been influenced by phenomenology, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenomenology_%28architecture%29
Hope this clears the mystifying air of phenomenology.
